The security industry has always been crucial in safeguarding individuals, organisations, and assets from potential risks and threats. With the increasing sophistication of technology, security companies have started integrating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, and cyber-security into their security solutions.


One of the most exciting advancements in the security industry is using security robots. These robots can be programmed to perform various tasks, including monitoring and patrolling premises, detecting and reporting intrusions, and even responding to emergencies. Robots have proven to be particularly effective in areas where human security personnel may be limited or unavailable, such as remote locations or during a pandemic.


Cobalt Robotics, a California-based company, is one of the leaders in producing security robots. Cobalt’s robots are designed with sensors, cameras, microphones, and two-way video capabilities. These sensors enable the robot to collect vast amounts of data, which is then stored remotely in the cloud. This means that the robot can learn from the collective experience of the whole fleet, not just its own experience, making it more efficient and effective over time.


Apart from Cobalt Robotics, other companies, such as Knightscope, have also developed security robots that use artificial intelligence to detect and report intrusions. For example, Knightscope’s robots are equipped with lasers, cameras, and sensors that detect suspicious behaviour and notify human security personnel in real time.


The use of security robots in the industry is still in its early stages, but it can potentially revolutionise how security is delivered. The deployment of robots has been beneficial in addressing the skills shortage in the security industry by providing round-the-clock security services without compromising quality. Additionally, using robots has proven cost-effective, as they do not require benefits, paid time off, or sick leave, which can be significant expenses for companies hiring human security personnel.


However, the deployment of robots has also raised concerns about data privacy, bias, and consent. As these robots collect and store vast amounts of data, it is essential to ensure that it is protected and used appropriately. Additionally, the potential for bias exists in how robots are trained on information and interpret data. This could lead to unintended consequences and impact society and individuals.


In conclusion, integrating advanced technologies, such as security robots, in the security industry can significantly enhance security services.
